Connecting Our Community Campaign Underway!

April 1, 2017

The Connecting Our Community $2,500,000 capital campaign is underway! We are excited to be moving forward with the first phase of visiting would-be donors in the congregation starting in April.

Our theme, Connecting Our Community, gets to the very heart of what these building projects – and our church’s mission – are all about. As a congregation we voted in January 2017 to make changes to our facilities that will strengthen our connections to the Holy, to each other and to our neighbors in the wider community.

In a nutshell, here’s what we’re planning:

  • Sanctuary – a reconfiguration of the chancel will make the pulpit more accessible with a ramp and wider stairs across the front. The stairs will serve as safe, stable risers for the choirs. The pulpit will be made movable for more flexible use of the chancel space. Some transept pews will be replaced by chairs for those who need more comfortable and accessible seating. Audiovisual upgrades will provide a better worship experience for all.
  • Pilgrim House (East Entrance) – an addition to the parking lot entrance will provide elevator access to all three levels. Each level will have new ADA approved restrooms.
  • Pilgrim House (Cleaveland St. Entrance) – A community green space will surround an accessible ramp to this entrance where a lobby addition will serve as an airlock to conserve energy.
  • Other energy saving improvements throughout Pilgrim House.

To find out more, you are invited to our family-friendly campaign kick-off celebration after worship on Sunday, April 30th. We’ll have food, balloons, hard-hat tours of the sites undergoing changes, a scavenger hunt and other fun events.
