An Open and Affirming Congregation
Connectedness Projects 2017
Thanks to those who stayed after worship on April 19th to participate in the 4Cs (Congregational Conversation with Church Council) facilities meeting on the First Parish Church Connectedness Projects. We were pleased to have such a robust discussion about our present facilities and proposed next steps. Please be sure to peruse the presentation on the right as well as the Case Statement and FAQs if you haven’t yet.
Our next 4Cs on facilities will be after worship on Sunday, May 31st. The Facilities Team will provide a status update at this meeting. We encourage all of you — especially those of you have not yet been able to attend a 4Cs on facilities — to stay and participate in the conversation. Children are welcome.
As we explained at the April 19th meeting, we are presently in the Planning Study phase of this process. This means we are gathering information, conducting interviews, and holding meetings about the proposed facilities changes we presented at the meeting. Helping us with this work are Peter Heinrichs and Susan Lewis of Full Harvest Fundraising. The results of the Planning Study will be presented to the Ministry Forum at our retreat on June 6th and to the congregation at the semi-annual meeting on June 14th. Our hope is that this report will indicate the congregation is ready to move forward with the full Feasibility Study and will grant at the June 14th meeting the necessary authorization to do so.
The Feasibility Study stage will include procuring architectural plans, more precise building cost estimates, and other preliminary plans needed to give us a more solid idea of the funds needed to upgrade our facilities. We anticipate that his work will be done over the summer and fall of 2015. Once it has been completed we will report our findings to the congregation and will seek the congregation’s assent to initiate a capital campaign.
Please feel free to reach out to any one of the Facilities Team members listed below to share your thoughts or questions.
Thanks,
John Pearson, Kevin Hart, Mark Patrick, Bill Ferdinand, Len Westra, Kristi Hatrick
