February 26, 2019
First Parish Church of Brunswick will be holding special worship services and events celebrating Celtic spirituality throughout the month of March.
The Maine-based musical duo Castlebay will play in the worship service at 10:00 am, and hold a question and answer session after the service at 11:00 am. 217 Maine St., Brunswick.
A panel discussion featuring Karin Baard of John Philip Newell’s Heartbeat ministry, Aram Mitchell of Renewal in the Wilderness, and The Rev. Holly Morrison of Phippsburg Congregational Church will be held. Worship service at 10:00 am, panel discussion at 11:15 am at 217 Maine St., Brunswick.
A workshop, The Pilgrim Year: Creation’s Wisdom through the Celtic Calendar, will be held. Facilitated by The Rev. Holly Morrison, who is a pastor, farmer, and Celtic poet, this workshop will walk through the Celtic “Wheel of the Year” to reveal how the ancient rhythms of culture and agriculture can inform the Christian faith in all seasons. 1:00-2:30 pm at 9 Cleaveland St., Brunswick.
Kent Nerburn’s Neither Wolf Nor Dog is the author’s experience of his journey with a Lakota elder named Dan. In conversations and actual journeys to “thin places,” Nerburn learns about Native American spirituality, traditions and life on the reservations. Themes of the Great Spirit, spiritual connections to the natural world, interconnection of all beings, and the idea of original blessing intersect with Celtic traditions and will be topics for discussion. Copies of this book are available for purchase at Gulf of Maine Books on Maine Street in Brunswick. Discussions will be held at 9 Cleaveland St. in Brunswick on the following dates: Tues, March 19, 7-8:30 pm; Wed, March 20, 9:30-11 am; Sun, March 24, 11:15 am.
The Indoor Labyrinth will be available for walking from 9:00 am – Noon in Fellowship Hall, 9 Cleaveland St., Brunswick.
All events are free and open to the public. For more information, call the First Parish Church office at (207) 729-7331.
