First Parish Church School Program
Our goal in Church School is that each child knows how fully and unconditionally he/she is loved by God and to explore ways to respond to that love and share it in this time and place.

The 2011-12 Church School Year begins on Sept 11th!

Church School is held at 10:00am, concurrent with worship. This year we will be actively exploring ways to practice our faith. Classes are in Pilgrim House, the brick building on Cleaveland Street, diagonally behind the church.

On September 11th, join us for a lively "Welcome-to-Fall" morning. Gather at 10:00am (as outlined below) for worship and church school. Following worship, please register your children in their classrooms with the teachers, then meet us outside on the Pilgrim House lawn for a fun intergenerational "Birth Date Party"!

Bring Infants through Kindergarteners to Pilgrim House before church.

  • Nursery - For children ages 2 and younger. Jocelyn Kohler is our professional caregiver.
  • Preschool Class (3 & 4 year olds) and Kindergarten Class - have a brief chapel time, then they have Bible stories, crafts, games & music, and snack (using Whole People of God curriculum).

First Graders and older begin in church - then come to Pilgrim House following the Children's Moment. Worship and Church School themes will be closely tied for all ages. We'll use the brand new Faith Practices online resource, Whole People of God Online, and creative materials to guide us.

  • 1st and 2nd grade classes - meet downstairs in Pilgrim House.
  • 3rd, 4th, 5th/6th grade classes - meet in various rooms upstairs.
  • 7th & 8th Grade Confirmation church school class meets twice monthly in the Chapel.

High School Students - Youth Group for 9th-12th grade meets bi-monthly (usually on the 1st & 3rd Sunday evenings - but call for schedule).
