From our REOPENING TASK FORCE
First Parish Church Guidelines for Use of the Sanctuary, Pilgrim House, and Outdoor spaces during COVID
Version 3.0 (9/27/21)
In an effort to safely reopen our buildings and regather as a community, the Reopening Task Force, with the approval of Church Council, provides the following set of guidelines for meetings and events on our church campus. We are following guidance of the Maine Governor and Maine CDC. Your anticipated compliance is greatly appreciated!
- Sunday Church Services (Sanctuary):
A. Beginning June 27th, the Sanctuary will be open for modified Sunday services.
B. All attendees must wear a mask at all times, regardless of vaccination status.
C. Extra masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Exhaust fans will be set up to increase circulation.
D. Children are encouraged to start the service over at Pilgrim House for Summer Sundays or daycare.
E. There will be no communion offered.
F. There will be music provided, but there will be no singing by the congregation.
G. The offering basket will be passed, but you are encouraged to utilize our online giving options.
H. There will be no coffee hour in the vestry following the service.
I. Congregants are asked to exit the sanctuary directly following the service. Please do not linger and socialize indoors.
- All Other Indoor Meetings/Events (Pilgrim House, Sanctuary):
A. As soon as possible prior to the event, email the Office Administrator, Sarah Mills at email@example.com to book location for date/time & expected number of attendees. We are currently discouraging all unannounced visits due to lack of staff available in the building.
B. All attendees/visitors must wear a mask at all times when indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
C. There is an Event Box* located by the bench in the hallway by the new parking lot entrance, which contains masks, had sanitizer and cleaning supplies.
D. You are encouraged to open widows and doors when the weather permits to increase air circulation. Fans are also available in various locations in the building. Ensure fans are positioned so they exhaust the air from the building.
E. No food or drinks (other than a personal water bottle, etc.) may be served at meetings or events at this time.
- Outdoor Events:
A. All unvaccinated participants and those aged 12 and under must wear a mask for outdoor events. We still ask that you email the Event Coordinator, Todd Rider at firstname.lastname@example.org to book location for date/time & expected number of attendees.
B. Please be considerate of others and use common sense regarding gathering and socializing.
We are working to reopen in a safe, well planned, and orderly manner that follows the guidance from the Federal & Maine CDC. We appreciate your understanding and support.
If you have any questions that are not addressed in our protocols, do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
to First Parish Church!
We look forward to meeting you.
First Parish Church is open to everyone and welcomes participation in the full life, leadership, and ministry of the Church. We are a diverse congregation. We welcome persons of any race, gender, ethnic origin, mental or physical ability, religious tradition, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and economic circumstances. We affirm that the love of Christ for each person knows no bounds.
Who we are as a church can be summed up in our Church Covenant:
In the presence of God and each other,
We promise to do justice;
Following in the way of Jesus,
we seek to act on our deep respect
for the sacredness of each individual
and of all creation.
We promise to love kindness;
Inspired by the Spirit,
we vow to forgive often,
and to sustain one another
through life’s challenges, joys, and sorrows.
We promise to walk humbly with God;
Through worship, prayer, and service,
we journey together with the Living God
whose power is revealed—
and yet to be revealed—
in each of us and in all of us.
