An Ongoing Appeal to Help New Mainers
First Parish Church is helping with the ongoing process of preparing to welcome over twenty families who will be moving to our community soon.
United Way has hired Maggie Cummings as the Community Response Coordinator to oversee all that is needed to make these families welcome, and church members Priscilla Bizer and Margaret Hutchins.
– An Update from Priscilla and Margaret (4/2/2024) –
Thank you for warmly welcoming the two New Mainer families whom we are mentoring into the midst of our church community. They look forward to attending church on Sundays.
The New Mainer Welcoming Team is awaiting word that Chizzy Nneke’s young children will receive some scholarship support for attending summer day camp for a few weeks this summer through the Brunswick Recreation Center. The cost per child is: $800.00 for a kindergartner for three weeks from July 1 – July 19 and $850 for three weeks for a kindergartner from July 22 – August 9.
The cost for camp for Grades 1-6 is $625 for a four-week experience from June 24 – July 19 and $675 from July 22- August 15. It’s $1200 for all 8 weeks.
If you would consider making a gift to First Parish Church with the Welcoming New Mainers on the memo line, we would be grateful. Thank you for considering this.
Jose is attending English language classes every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9-10:30 at the Community College on Sewall Street in the Landing. We would be grateful to have a couple more people willing to drive him to and from class. Please let Margaret Hutchins know if you would be willing to do this. His classes go through June.
Chizzy’s coursework will end early in April. She begins training to be a Certified Nursing Assistant in May.
